Silly Puppet!

I love making puppets. They are hard and take a few hours though. I got the idea from the puppets at my church. I used to be on the puppet team. We called the ones with neon colors "silly puppets".

I'll try to explain how to make one, but it will take a while! Start out with cardboard. Use some strong enough, cause this will be the mouth. You will have 2 peices(a top piece and a bottom piece). Cut each piece the same size. Put them on top of each other and glue a strip of felt on the straight outer edge to keep it together. (I use hot glue) Next, cover the inside of the mouth with felt, and add a tongue. Here comes the hard part. (You might just figure it out yourself, cause this might be confusing) This will start the face. Take a whole piece of felt and glue it on the edge of the mouth.(the top part of the mouth) Then glue another whole piece of felt on the bottom part of the mouth. You just have to keep playing with it till it will work right. Ok, so somehow you have to attach the top piece with the bottom piece. It's not easy, but you have to glue them together trying to make it neat cause it will show on the back of the head. Below is a picture of the back of the head. Unless you cover it with hair, I couldn't figure out a way to make it smooth.


After you get that done, you can stuff the head. Then, take the fleece you want to be it's shirt, and glue it around the neck. This is pretty hard to do too. One piece should just fit it perfectly. Then glue down the open part in the back of the shirt. Now, you can make arms! Get a strip of fleece and make kind of a tube and glue it together. Then stuff the arm. Make sure it will bend at the elbow. Now, cut out hands, get some wooden sticks and paint them black, and glue the hands and sticks inside the edge of the arms. Put eyes, a nose, and hair(I used one of those feather boas that you can get at Hobby Lobby) on your puppet and you're done!

The whole thing took me 4 hours to do. But it's so cool when you're done!

Christmas Tree Ornament

Here's a fun way to make a Christmas tree ornament! Get a styrofoam ball, a bunch of straight pins, beads, sequences, and ribbon. Pin the ribbon to the ball. Then, put a bead and a sequence on a pin and poke it in the ball! It is so cool, but it takes forever to cover the whole thing. It's really pretty when your done though.

Yarn Doll

Here is a doll that I made. Isn't she cute?!



Here's she looks like "naked".^^^ Ok, so you take a book or something about the height that you want your doll to be and wrap yarn around it kind of loose so it won't get stuck. Get it pretty thick so your doll won't be too skiny! Then carefully take the yarn off the book. Now you tie a piece of yarn at the top to make a head. Next, cut all the loops at the bottom and seperate the strands into 4 sections(2 arms and 2 legs). Tie yarn around it's waist. Tie pieces of yarn to make the hands and feet, and trim it off straight. Add hair, eyes, and a mouth.



Here is her dress.^^^ I used fleece. It's easy, you just cut it into the shape above, put it on the doll, and tie yarn around it's waist!

Christmas Table Centerpiece

We made these for a 4-H banquet. I know, everything has to do with 4-H! I got a styrofoam cone and hot-glued it in the pot. Then, I pinned the mints on with straight pins(not the ones with colorful ends). Stick the greenery and presents around the tree. Make a bow out of ribbon and pin it on top. Then, stick the pretty flower on top, and you're done! These are great for gifts or to sit around the house. You can eat them too!!

Funny Bunny Puppet

Today in 4-H I made this cute bunny puppet! It's made out of a glove. You poke the thumb in and stick the carrot in the hole. Use sharpies to color the insides of the ears. Stuff the ears with polyfil until they stand up. Don't forget the little pom-pom tail! You can make all kinds of animals like this.

Piggy Bank

I made a piggy bank for a 4-H contest. I got 1st place! Ok, here's how I made it. I blew up a balloon, made pig feet out of newspaper, and taped them onto the balloon. Then I took a section of an egg carton and taped it on for the nose. Then I got a piece of a pipe cleaner, curled it, and taped it on for the tail. I forgot to put the ears on until I was halfway through paper macheteing!(I don't know if I spelled that right) I made the ears out of thin cardboard. Then I paper macheted it. I put like 4 or 5 layers on to make is strong. I painted it and sprayed it with that stuff that makes it shiny. I made clothes for it! I actually sewed them and it was easy! The sunglasses came from my little brother's build-a-bear. I don't know why I made it a movie star pig! The whole thing took me several days to finish.
